I have nothing exciting to say. Life has been slow; I haven't been able to take any pictures because it keeps raining off and on. The few days I've gone out have been for work, so I didn't bring my camera. Sorry! (´_ゝ`)

Next week is the beginning of school, so hopefully life will pick up by then and I'll have something exciting to talk about.

Hello hello, everyone. It's finally been a bit sunny here in Shanghai. The last two weeks have been nothing but rain, rain, rain (and more rain). D: It was very annoying! When it rains a lot here, it makes things decently inconvenient. I won't lie, Shanghai's streets aren't that clean and it's a very crowded city. But! I digress.

A few days ago I took a walk around campus and took a picture of our friend Mao here. Apparently a lot of universities have statues of Mao Zedong, but on ECNU campus the Mao statue is kind of important. If you want to meet a friend on campus but you or they aren't that familiar with individual places, the Mao statue is a good place to meet! (o`∀´o) I love my campus; it's very beautiful, akin to a garden. You can see pictures at my Flickr

These days I've been very tired.(;ω;) All I've done is try to find more work! Right now I work for Neworld Baby on Saturday and Sunday mornings, so I need more part-time work. At the moment, four schools are trying to set me up with work and it's very stressful because it's mainly demo classes, no guarantees. D: Today I'm substituting for Kid Castle, the school I worked for back in 2007. I'm not sure how I feel about working there again But I need the money, so it's very much so a 没办法 (méi bàn fǎ, it can't be helped) situation!

, I just want school to start! And to have a set working schedule! (;____________;) My classes will be on Mondays and Tuesdays on the Minhang campus (I live in Putuo campus), which is quite far, about 1 hour on a bus, an hour and a half via metro. Poor me, on Mondays I must travel on the metro because the campus bus won't arrive in time for my first class! This means I have to get up very early. Ah well. I'm very excited to finally start the classes for my major. Last year I only studied Chinese language.

Oh, I should explain this picture. On the side of one of the older buildings on campus was this shape of a person. I thought it was very creepy, and I'm sure others did as well so thankfully some kind soul decided to draw the smiley face and heart Now he's not so scary anymore, ne? (笑)

I must go now, it's time to write a test for my students tomorrow and my landlady is coming to collect the rent. Next time I post, I'll take some pictures of my apartment for you all to see.

This morning I got up and decided that since it was (finally) sunny that it would be a good idea to go out to Changfeng Park and take a walk. Despite the crazy humidity (89% ) it was a good walk. Since Steph is living with me at the moment until she gets enough money to get her own apartment, I decided to show her around and show her where various things were, like where we would practise Tai Chi once Sharii gets back (I confess, I'm half-dreading the crazy humid mornings!) to where we had our Dragon Boat racing practice.

The gardens of the park as well as ECNU campus itself are just so beautiful. Honestly, they're half the reason I love living in this area. Shanghai is such a big and bustling city, and while I enjoy being active and having all kinds of opportunities to get out and do things I wouldn't be able to do back in America, I don't think I could live surrounded by tall buildings all the time. It's nice to have an escape like this. I'm love with the beautiful lakes and rivers, the classic Chinese-style pavillions, the stones, and especially the vegetation from the trees to the flowers. It's like having my own garden, and it's better this way because I'm terrible at trying to keep plants, haha.

Well, I ought to go now. I have many things to do and so little time, it seems. I'll try to update this journal as often as possible for you all to read. I hope everyone is having a good day, wherever they are in the world!
